Rara Lake is the largest lake of Nepal, situated in Mugu district in the Karnali Zone in the far western region of Nepal. It takes around 3 to 4 days of walking/trekking to reach Rara from Jumla. The surface is around 8 sq. km and the perimeter is 9km. The length of the lake is 5km and 2 km wide, the altitude around 3060m and the max depth is 167m. It is the highest lake in Nepal and proudly addressed by the Nepalese as the Queen of Lakes It has become one of the most popular destination for both international and domestic tourist.
