Kathmandu to Kerung Border Vehicle rental

 
Rasuwagadi-Kerung border point, the only trade route currently in operation between Nepal and China, has been upgraded as an international crossing point with an aim to develop it as a major junction linking China to the whole of South Asia. The Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border crossing, which was opened in December 2014, has been the only point of bilateral trade between Nepal and China after the Great Earthquake in April 2015 severely damaged the Kodari Highway in several sections. The Tatopani border point has remained closed since.

The long-awaited official announcement of opening of Kerung Port finally came as a great surprise. Due to the influence of Nepali earthquake in 2015, the Zhangmu border was completely flattened while the access from Nepal to Tibet via Gyirong was also severely crippled. With over a year and a half of continuous renovation, the facilities of Gyirong Port were finally restored and put to use again. It is obvious that the Kerung route shortens the trip to Tibet from Nepal and terminates an obligation to enter Tibet via flights only and return to the same route to be back to Lhasa. Now, it is easier for the third country travelers touring to Mount Kailash, Tibet Everest Base Camp and other western/eastern Tibet destinations.
